What can I use it for?

You can use LOCR to provide course materials to your students in a variety of ways:

What to know about LOCR

During the physical closure of UBC Library branches, access to physical print course reserves for you and your students is not available.UBC Library staff are working to source electronic versions of physical print materials for you to use online, including digitizing films. You can continue to request what you need through LOCR and staff will do their best to meet your needs.

Set the availability of your course reserves

Add LOCR to your Canvas course

Request course reserves through LOCR

Add requests via Syllabus Service

Using Syllabus Service, you will request all items for your course reserves at once by submitting a PDF or Word document to LOCR. The document must include specific information:

  • 课程名称和课程代码

  • Request for new purchases for the Library collections

Instructions and options for submitting your document are outlined in the "Syllabus Service" tab under the "Instructor Resources" tab onUBC Library's course reserves page。

Tips

Share course reserves with students via LOCR

您的学生可以访问LOCRcourses.library.ubc.ca或者from your Canvas course, if you added LOCR there, by clicking the Library Online Course Reserves item in the Course Navigation.

Once logged in to LOCR, students will see a list of course readings. They can filter the list using a search box. Each item in the list will show them whether they've clicked previously to access it or not, and clicking any title will allow students to view electronic items directly or see where physical items are available.

You can provide additional access to your students using direct links. LOCR assigns a unique PURL (Permanent URL) for each item in your course reserves, which can be shared with students any way you like. The links will require students to log in with their CWL first to ensure only enrolled students can see the material.

Tips

  • We recommend adding LOCR to your Canvas courseto provide easy access for students.
